Battis Portuguese Water Dogs Cave Creek, Arizona

Our first PWD, River, was introduced to my family's lives as a solution to my childhood allergies.  Their intelligence, sensitivity and human like interaction amazed my family.

Time went on and our love for the breed reached a new level and we began breeding.

Long after River's litters my husband and I continue to have the same love for Porties.  We are not a kennel but a family.  We have breed three females Leinani and Hoku Lele, Kauai.

Our girls were given Hawaiian names out of respect for Leinani's immediate ancestors.

Leinani means Beautiful Child and Hoku Lele is Shooting Star.

Nani's Dad (pictured to the left at The 2008 Westminster Dog Show in Madison Square Garden ) has a special place in everyone's hearts and in the Portuguese Water Dog world.

CH. Surfdogs Haoli Boy "GQ" has earned elite titles and a prestigious reputation.

In addition to "SuperDog" he landed himself on the cover of "Best in Show" Magazine, competed in Best of Breed and given the Award of Excellence.

Being named SuperDog is a high honor and no small task.  Having competed and accumulated the most overall points in at least three out of six categories; confirmation, agility, tracking, rally and water.  We feel blessed to have such a unique, rare and celebrated bloodline.

Nani's daughter Hoku Lele was a blessing of a puppy, calmer than most, zen like and listens attentively.  Now grown up we feel she truly understands most of what we say and would make a good service dog.  She wants to please and has been a fast learner in her training and following commands.  She is also kind hearted, gentle and a huge cuddler.  Approximately 50lbs she takes after her dad almost all white and brown speckles and wavy hair.   However she lucked out with her momma's gold eyes.  Lele has some water work training and will continue next spring.

Challenging your PWD can be rewarding for both you and your dog.  Learn more at PWDCA.org/activities and contact your local PWD club to join in on the fun.
