Nutrition

A medium breed grain free with no GMO formula after puppy transitions to adult after one year will most likely be a good choice.  Be sure to have clean water available though out the day.  Leaving food readily available or serving meals depends on how you'd like to approach the day to day.  Regularly dispensing food can be a good way to show doggie who's Alpha and where he gets his meals.  Regular brushing and natural chewies help promote tooth and gum health.

grooming

Learning to cut your dogs hair can save money, establish trust and give you valuable one on one time.  Invest in a high quality pair of clippers or visit the groomer on a regular basis.   Brushing regularly is necessary especially with curly hair. Generally speaking the longer the hair the more frequently you will need to brush.  Brushing is important to avoid mats especially in the hard to get places like under the arms.

training

We all have our own styles.  I've had dogs my entire life and all are allowed on the couch.  Others like to set an area aside for your pet.  Maybe you want to train your puppy or send him off to boot camp.  There's no wrong or right just whatever works for your situation.  However, there are some basic tools and personal tips to help you succeed.

  • Crate Training

  • Small Treats for Rewards

  • Humans Eat First (You are the Alpha)
